Research and Teaching Focus
My research focuses on synthesizing and characterizing new molecular materials of important metal oxides for magnetic and catalytic applications. My chemical education research is related to outreach and improving student success in general chemistry and inorganic chemistry courses. I teach General Chemistry I and II, Inorganic Chemistry, The Secrets of Alchemy, and HP Camp (for incoming Honors students). My goal is to impart a love of learning by encouraging students to ask the “why” questions. I hope to demystify science and dissolve scientist stereotypes. I aim to encourage everyone to believe in their ability to understand chemistry.
