Teaching Focus
I specialize in teaching lower-level General Chemistry (CHM2045/2046, CHM1020, CHM1030/1031) and Organic Chemistry for non-majors (CHM2200). My focus is on fostering student success in these foundational courses by building confidence, problem-solving skills, and persistence. I have developed and studied peer mentoring programs for at-risk students, presented at ACS and BCCE meetings, and contributed to the university’s Supplemental Instruction program. My recent projects include redesigning CHM2200 to reduce high withdrawal rates, developing flipped-classroom models with interactive videos, and integrating Open Educational Resources. My research centers on evidence-based teaching practices that improve engagement, retention, and learning outcomes.
